Alyssa Louche puts the “pop” in cake pop with her unique twist on the classic treat.

Louche said the inspiration for her business started with an obsession with silicone molds and a love of baking. (ALYSSA LOUCHE)

Unlike traditional cake pops, which are rolled into balls and dipped in chocolate, Louche uses silicone molds to make her specialty sweets. She coats the mold in chocolate, then once it dries fills it with cake and adds another layer of chocolate on top. She then “pops” the cake out of the mold, creating cake pops in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.

“I felt like nobody was doing cake pops in like, very decadent shapes and sizes, and I wanted to kind of elevate cake pops in a way,” Louche said.

Louche started her business, AllyPop, in November 2022 and has been attending markets since January. She runs AllyPop out of her home in College Park, and she said she receives a lot of support from the community, especially when attending local markets.

“College Park is particularly special in that it almost feels more neighborly, more familiar, because everyone knows everyone, and there’s just so much love in the community,” Louche said.

Louche said that a long-term goal for the business is to open a food truck, but for now she plans to work on upgrading her website (AllyPop.art) and social media to continue to create her unique treats.
